Gardaí in Westmeath are investigating the incident.
Gardaí are investigating after an incident of dangerous driving which delayed a train at the weekend.
The 9:40am service from Athlone to Westport was delayed for 40 minutes after a car drove through the railway barrier at Knockcroghery.
The driver of the car then did a U-turn before driving back out through the barrier he had just smashed open.
Iarnród Éireann is describing the incident as dangerous and reckless.
