Government Needs To Examine Why It Would Reduce Hospital Services

The Ireland East Hospital Group is proposing to close night-time emergency services in Navan.

The Government is being asked to explain why it would reduce services at Navan Hospital when extra capacity may be needed nationally to cope with coronavirus. 

One in four intensive care beds is currently occupied by a COVID patient, with 17 hospitals having full occupancy last night.

The Ireland East Hospital Group is proposing to close night-time emergency services in Navan.

A similar plan for Portlaoise was rejected after local opposition.
