Workers affected by Coronavirus restrictions are being encouraged to sign up to a new government payment.

The new 'COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment' offers a weekly payment of €203 for a period of six-weeks for both the employed and self-employed.

You're required to fill out a form with your personal details, via here or by calling 1890 800 024.

Longford-Westmeath Fine Gael TD Peter Burke says the payments are being processed quickly and expects they'll go through this week.

He says the government is doing what it can to provide financial supports:
