There's fears inflation will drive up the cost of construction and have an impact on the funding for the facility.
The government is being urged to keep plans for a new midlands fire station a "top priority."
Offaly County Council was granted funding to appoint a contractor for the new facility in Clara in October, which will be based in Raheen.
The existing building is located on a confined site, without the footprint needed for expansion works to be carried out.
Laois Offaly Independent TD Carol Nolan says the community of Clara needs assurance Capital funding for the project will be adjusted, if inflation increases the cost of construction.
