Government Will Support Workers If Meat Factories Close Permanently

Thousands of jobs are under threat as beef protests continue at processing plants

The Government will provide supports needed to help workers who lose their jobs, if meat factories permanently close.

It's after Dawn Meats announced its facility in Rathdowney, Co. Laois facing closure, if protests over the beef row continue.  

Speaking at the National Ploughing Championships, Tánaiste Simon Coveney says there is a great danger that a number of factories will close.
