It's hoped the route's launch will be confirmed after Budget 2027.
A lack of funding means a proposed Local Link bus route for the Midlands won't be in operation this year.
Under the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, Route 826 will run from Mullingar to Kildare with stops in various towns like Clonbollogue, Bracknagh and Kinnegad.
The National Transport Authorityis confirming there is no funding available for new services, and is dependent on funding from Budget 2027.
