Greater Inflation In House Prices In The Midlands Than In Dublin

They rose in cost by 11% in the year to July.

House prices in the midlands are up 11% in the year to July.

This outpaces inflation in Dublin, with only the border counties reporting greater increases to the Central Statistics Office.

Average values nationally have doubled since the lows of 2013 but are still 10% below their Celtic Tiger peak.

They currently stand at 8.6%, slightly above the Dublin average of 8.1%.

The CSO figures show the median price for a home bought in the 12 months to July was €267,000.
