The Association of Catholic Priests is concerned about the ageing profile of those in the priesthood.

The Association of Catholic Priests is holding its AGM in Westmeath today.

Calling for ordination of married men and women will be among the topics on the agenda, at the meeting in Athlone this afternoon.

The group - which has about 1,000 members - is also expected to discuss retirement from the priesthood and human rights within the Church.

Father Roy Donovan is among those attending the meeting - he feels a totally fresh approach is needed to sustain the Church into the future:
