Housing Commencements Rise In Midlands

Westmeath has seen the biggest surge compared to this time last year.

Housing commencements are up significantly in the Midlands.

There's been a 65% rise in the number of new homes being built in the region when compared to the same period last year.

The bulk of the increase comes in Westmeath where commencement notices have been lodged for 44 new homes in November, compared to just 10 in 2024.

The figure is 14 in Laois, up from 8, and in Offaly there were 9 notices for new houses compared to 6 last year.
