IFA Urge Farmers To Be Cautious On Bluetongue Disease

IFA County Chair for Laois Henry Burns hopes it can be contained.

The IFA is asking farmers to stay alert regarding the potential spread of Bluetongue disease in Ireland. 

The virus has been detected in two cows near Bangor, County Down.

Although it poses no risk to human health, it can have significant repercussions for livestock and the agricultural and food sectors.

Laois County Chair for the IFA Henry Burns is hopeful that the disease can be contained during the winter months. 

He says they have a good chance of avoiding it if they follow protocols:
