More spaces for wheelchairs has been allotted on the new carriages.
Irish Rail is introducing 41 new carriages to its fleet from today.
The first of them ran on the early Portlaoise to Heuston service this morning.
They include fold-down seats, extra bike and wheelchair space, as well as standing room.
