The CEO of Irish Rural Link has been elected as president of Diversity Europe Group.
The group represents civic society on the European Economic Social Committee based in Brussels.
It's made up of delegates drawn from each member state, representing sectors, including community, agriculture, environment, consumers, social economy and various professions.
He's the first Irish person to be elected to this position, since its foundation in 1956.
Mr. Boland is currently chief executive of the Moate-based Irish Rural link and will take up the new position in October 2020.
