Jamie Moran stood down from the local authority in 2021 and nominated his father, Kevin 'Boxer' Moran for the seat, but the move was blocked by a majority, and Paul Hogan was instead co-opted.
At Westmeath County Council's recent AGM, the matter was amended to prevent a similar issue from arising in the future.
