'Jewel In Westmeath's Crown' Set For €200,000 Refurbishment

Belvedere House is one of eight midlands amenities receiving funding today.

The jewel in the crown of Westmeath tourism is set for a €200,000 facelift. 

Belevdere House and Gardens in Mullingar is one of the eight midlands recipients of this year's Historic Structures Fund.

It'll facilitate repairs to the roof, chimneys and parapet which will be completed by September - while some of the other big beneficiaries include Tullamore Gaol and Cuffsborough House in Ballacolla,

Minister of State in the Department of Heritage and Longford-Westmeath TD, Peter Burke says Belvedere's importance to the community can't be understated:

WESTMEATH

Belvedere House, Mullingar - €100,000 for 2022 and €100,000 for 2023.

OFFALY 

Cloneyhurke House, Cloneyhurke, Portarlington - €38,000
Lowland House, Fancroft - €38,000
Tullamore Former Gaol, Cormac Street, Tullamore - €25,000

LAOIS

Abbeyleix Old Church, Abbeyleix - €50,000
Cuffsborough House, Ballacolla - €44,590
Midland House, 27 Main Street, Portlaoise - €20,000
Old Forge, Jamestown, Ballybrittas - €10,000
