Those working in the industry have been hitting out at Bord na Móna.
It's feared peat shortages will lead to thousands of jobs losses in the horticulture industry.
Nursery owners say Bord na Móna - the main supplier of horticultural peat in Ireland - had assured them enough supply had been stockpiled for the next growing season.
However, it's now emerged there will be no peat available for the domestic market from March - with the semi-state company exporting the product instead and suspicion that large stocks are also being earmarked for power generation in Edenderry Power Station.
Billy Kelly from Kelly's Nursery in Streamstown says Bord na Móna has misled the entire industry.
