Nationally, over 185,000 people are on the register.
There's been a jump in the number of people signing on in December in the midlands.
The seasonally adjusted live register in the region increased by nearly 100, to 10,761.
Westmeath was the only county in the region to saw a reduction in the number of people signing on, down one to 4,350.
There were jumps in the figures in Laois and Offaly, up to 3,208 and 3,103, respectively.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted total was 185,700, which was a slight increase on the previous month.
