She will be sentenced in two weeks time.
A woman who revealed the identity of one of the boys who murdered Ana Kriègel by posting a photo online says she was “angry and upset” when she shared it.
Hazel Fitzpatrick, from Easton Road, Leixlip, Co Kildare, also told gardaí that she thought it was wrong that they were protected when Ana wasn’t.
The identities of child offenders are protected by law and can never be revealed.
Throughout their trial, the two boys who were eventually convicted of murdering Ana Kriègel were referred to as "Boy A" and "Boy B" by the media.
The day after they were found guilty, Hazel Fitzpatrick shared a screenshot of a photo of "Boy A".
She said she knew what she was doing was wrong, but never expected the guards to come knocking on her door.
The caption on her post had several angry face emojis and read: “Name and shame. Two sickos. Everyone should see who did this to her.”
The court heard she was addicted to Facebook at the time and had been closely following the trial online.
Her barrister said it wasn’t premeditated, but rather happened out of pure anger.
Ms Fitzpatrick will be sentenced in two weeks’ time.
