Two centres in Laois are due around €35m in refurbishments.
The lack of funding awarded to local hospitals in the midlands will have a significant knock on effect as the population ages.
That's according to Sinn Fein deputy Brian Stanley after care centres in Abbeyleix and Mountmellick were not awarded funding for capital projects.
Both are due major refurbishment works that will cost between 33 and 35 million euro combined.
The Laois/Offaly deputy says this will in turn increase pressure on acute hospitals in Portlaoise and Tullamore:
