Lack Of Home Care Is A "National Scandal"

A 97-year-old Laois woman is stuck in hospital despite being well enough for discharge.

Homecare in Ireland is inconsistent, inequitable and lacks transparency.

Catherine Cox from Family Carers Ireland is making the comments after the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar announced 1 million extra home help hours for next year.  

Family Carers Ireland estimate 7,900 people across the country are currently on a waiting list including a 97-year-old Laois woman is stuck in hospital despite being well enough for discharge.

Catherine Cox believes a more streamlined service is needed:
