Fine Gael's Barry Walsh feels areas like Ballacolla and Ballyroan could benefit from more housing.
Concerns are being voiced about housing and services in forgotten villages in Laois.
It comes as the Housing Minister is issuing a warning he will override the County Council's failing to rezone land.
County Cathaoirleach Barry Walsh says he has no concerns about the picture in Laois with plans well in train to significantly increase its housing capacity.
However the Fine Gael Portlaoise rep says some places need special attention:
