A climate action festival celebrating sustainability, creativity and community is being held in Laois this evening.
Laois County Council is hosting the Climate Action Festival in Ballintubbert House, blending inspiration, conversation and performance across two days.
Star performers include Blindboy, Hector Ó hEochagáin, and musician Jerry Fish.
The gathering will involve a series of dynamic stages, five immersive zones, 10 creative acts and 60 guest speakers for an expected 500 guests.
The Dunamaise Urban Gardeners project will bring together artists, gardeners and local growers to explore biodiversity and low-carbon living.
Laura Dunne, Dunamaise Arts Centre, added:
“We’re delighted to host eight of the festival’s events here at Dunamaise, ranging from comedy and cabaret to film and hands-on workshops. The arts have a unique role to play in helping people imagine new possibilities for our future, and this festival is a wonderful opportunity to combine creativity with positive climate action.”
Climate action coordinator at Laois County Council Suzanne Dempsey says she’s delighted to see the event taking place in the midlands:
