Laois Community Moves To Revive Traditional St Brigid’s Festival

The Timahoe community has begun preparations for a February 1st festival.

A Laois community is making an effort to revive an old St.Brigid's tradition.

Timahoe Community is in the early stages of planning a festival for February 1st with St.Brigid's cross making classes for children and making traditional Brideog dolls.

The tradition in the county goes back as least as far as the 1830's with the dolls mentioned in Dúchas's Schools Collection archives.
