Fire fighters have been dealing with bog fires across the Midlands for weeks.
Laois Fire and Rescue is currently tackling a bog fire in the county.
Crews were dealing with the smouldering blaze on a bog near Ballyroan last night and were back on site this morning.
Since the start of July, the county's fire service have attended over 20 incidents relating to gorse, grass, bog, forest and hay fires.
A spokesperson for the fire fighters says peatland fires are often protracted as it spreads downwards into the peat making it difficult to quell.
They're now using specialist wildfire equipment to cool and extinguish hotspots.
