She underwent open heart surgery.
A Laois woman who underwent open heart surgery has qualified as a Patient Champion.
Ballaghmore's Olivia McLoughlin Sweeney underwent open heart surgery earlier this year and was motivated to volunteer in support of others facing similar challenges.
She completed a programme with the Irish Heart Foundation aimed at assisting people affected by cardiac issues and stroke, and has now qualified as a Patient Champion.
The Patient Champions programme equips heart and stroke patients with the advocacy skills and avenues available to them, helping them work toward better outcomes for themselves and others.
