Long Waiting Lists In Laois/Offaly For Special Needs Assessments

Other areas include Meath, Dublin, Cork,  Wicklow, Waterford, Wexford, Limerick and Kerry.

5,078 children have been waiting longer than the law allows for a special needs assessment. 

They're supposed to be completed within six months, and allow a child to be diagnosed with a disability and get the care they need. 

Areas with long waiting lists include Laois/Offaly, Meath, Dublin, Cork,  Wicklow, Waterford, Wexford, Limerick and Kerry.

Children's Ombudsman, Niall Muldoon, who has just been reappointed, says it's completely unacceptable:
