It'll see the iconic Fiesta Ballroom in Kilcormac transformed into a sustainable training and research centre.
Planning permission has been granted for a major new green hub in Offaly.
It'll see the iconic Fiesta Ballroom in Kilcormac transformed into Green HQ, a sustainable education and employment centre and the home of not-for-profit community enterprise Green Offaly.
The building was purchased by philanthropy fund Trench Trust and is now being leased out to Offaly Local Development Company.
The revamp is being facilitated through €910,349 in funding from the national Just Transition Fund.
With planning approval now granted by Offaly County Council, the next step in the process is going out to tender for construction.
Róisín Lennon, Rural Development Officer from Offaly LDC, says they hope to put out the contracts in the next two months.
It's then hoped construction can get underway this autumn and completed by December 2023.
Róisín says it's a hugely exciting project for the midlands.:
