A man has been arrested, after two garda cars were damaged in a crash in Westmeath.
Gardaí in Athlone responded to a report about a car in the Marine View area in the early hours of Monday morning.
The vehicle collided with the two garda patrol cars when they arrived at the scene, and proceeded to leave.
No injuries to gardaí were reported.
A man in his 20s was later arrested in connection to the incident and detained at Athlone Garda Station.
A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
