The incident happened in Athlone.
A man has been hospitalised after a stabbing in Westmeath.
The incident took place in the Battery Heights area of Athlone yesterday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm.
The man was brought to hospital for treatment to what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Two men are thought to be involved in the alleged attack.
The Garda Water Unit in Athlone will be searching the Battery Heights area for a knife from around 11am this morning.
Gardaí are asking anyone with any information to contact Athlone Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line.
