Meat Plant In Laois One Of 14 Approved To Sell Beef To China

Chinese inspectors were shown around the facility last month.

14 meat plants have been approved to sell beef into China.

The Department of Agriculture says it brings the total to 21 -- calling it a "strong endorsement of Irish standards".

Last month, a protest by beef famers as Meadow Meats in Rathdowney was stood down, while members of a Chinese trade mission inspected the plant.

Talks aimed at resolving the beef price row were adjourned last week, after protesters blockaded the Department of Agriculture.
