A cold snap's started to bite overnight.
The country's bracing itself for freezing fog and icy temperatures over the next few days.
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says it's going to feel very cold:
Concern's growing over the tragic start to the New Year on the nations' roads.
Three people died in separate crashes yesterday, bringing to 7, the number of people killed since the start of 2024.
Last year saw the highest number of fatalities in almost a decade after 184 people died - with Tipperary, Dublin, Cork, Galway and Mayo accounting for 39 percent of the fatalities.
With the current cold snap setting in across the country this morning, safety chiefs are appealing to motorists to take particular care of driving in freezing fog and icy conditions.
