Gardaí in Wicklow are re-launching seasonal air patrols to protect farms.

A midlands Christmas tree grower says they're always vigilant of raids from criminals.

Gardaí in Wicklow are carrying out checkpoints and air patrols in an attempt to stop gangs from targetting remote farms.

Donal Leavy produces up to 10,000 Christmas trees at Leavy's Farm in Castletown-Geoghegan each year.

He admits it's a lucrative business and always a target for criminals:

Gardaí are relaunching Pperation Hurdle in the run up to Christmas in Co. Wicklow, which is home to Ireland's highest concentration of festive fur trees.
