The Geashill Community Playground Facebook page posted the update last night.
A newly built community sports facility in Offaly is now closed to the public over an insurance issue.
Geashill Community Playground says the astro turf pitch is locked effectively immediately as Offaly County Council insures the area's playground only.
The community group behind the amenity is calling on people to contact their public representatives in the county to address the issue.
A number of reps including Fine Gael TD John Clendennen, Independent deputy Carol Nolan, and Sinn Fein Councillor Aoife Masterson have all said they're looking into the situation.
