Midlands Counties Lead Ireland In Gigabit Fibre Broadband Coverage

Westmeath and Longford top the national rankings for gigabit fibre coverage.

Midlands counties rank among Ireland’s top broadband hotspots, according to the latest rankings from telecoms regulator ComReg.

Westmeath and Longford have the highest gigabit fibre broadband coverage in the country, at 96pc, with Dublin recording the lowest level of fibre connectivity nationally.

Rural counties including Offaly, Kerry, Roscommon, Cavan and Tipperary have greater high-speed fibre broadband availability than Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford.

Chief Executive of Athlone Chamber, Tommy Hogan says this is a very welcome development for the Midlands.
