The 20-bed facility is set to be the "main pillar of a proper palliative strategy for the midlands."
The Tánaiste says the site for a new hospice in Offaly has been chosen.
The €20 million, 20-bed facility is due to be based on the Wellwood Healthcare Campus, or on a site on the Arden Lane, in Tullamore.
It was initially due to be built next to Regional Hospital Tullamore, but those plans were scrapped earlier this year.
While Tánaiste, Micheál Martin, wouldn't reveal the location of the premises, he says he expects it to be well-received:
