Midland Regional Hospitals in Tullamore and Portlaoise made the announcement today.
Restrictions are now in place in two midlands hospitals as cases of COVID-19 and flu continue to rise in the region.
The midland Regional Hospital Tullamore is asking visitors to arrange all visits in advance.
While in Portlaoise, the Emergency Department and the EMO Court Ward is closed to visitors, while you can see patients elsewhere in the hospital between three and four o'clock.
These measures will be kept under review over the coming weeks.
