Midlands Housing Completions Fall 4% Despite National Increase

Laois has recorded the largest decline across the region.

There's been a 4% decline in the number of new homes completed in the Midlands when compared to the same time last year.

This comes despite a 10% increase nationally in the third quarter of 2026.

Laois has seen the most significant decline in the region, going from 231 last year, to 160 this year - a 30% drop.

Housing completions are up 62% in Offaly from 75 to 122, and essentially unmoved in Westmeath from 223 last year, to 224 this year.
