The Westmeath man is still in a "state of shock" after his Quick Pick ticket win.
The midlands winner of €500,000 is celebrating after collecting their winnings from the National Lottery Headquarters.
The Westmeath man claimed the prize in the EuroMillions Plus draw on Tuesday of last week.
The Quick Pick ticket he purchased at Tuthill’s newsagents in the Golden Island Shopping Centre in Athlone town.
He said, I’m still in a state of shock to be honest, the whole family are. It feels more real seeing the cheque worth a half million euro sitting in front of me. The one thing that we keep saying is that it’s going to be an amazing Christmas.
We’ll have a nice break for the holidays, and we’ll get some proper spending plans in place after that. We have some bills to pay off such as the mortgage and after that, we might start looking at doing some work on the house.
We’ll have to make a few decisions for sure but it’s an amazing position to be in, to be able to do that.”
