Midlands MEP Sets Out Hopes For Future CAP Policy Targets

Ciaran Mullooly feels four key points must be hit, including financial support provided for young farmer

A Midlands MEP says four demands must be secured in negotiations over the future Common Agricultural Policy.

Ciaran Mullooly wants to see CAP funding protected exclusively for agriculture, rather than competing with other national spending, ensure the definition of an active farmer reflects modern farming, including those with off-farm income or pensions.

He also wants to see financial support provided for young farmers, succession and continued farm investment as well as securing the future of Ireland’s livestock and grass-based farming sector.
