Midlands Rents Surge As Property Shortage Deepens

A shortage of rental properties is driving the increase.

The midlands is one of the worst affected areas in the country regarding property prices. 

The latest Daft.ie Rental Report reveals that apartment rents have surged by a third since before the pandemic.

In the last 12 month, rents have gone up by 10-13% in Laois, Offaly and Westmeath.

The report's author, Ronan Lyons, has pointed to the lack of available properties to rent as a contributing factor.

He says the system is playing catch up from the 90s:
