The Higher Education Minister has published a document highlighting the options open to him ahead of the Budget later this month.
A cut of up to 1,000 euro in the student contribution charge is being considered in order to reduce the cost of higher education.
Alternatively, a 25 percent increase in student grants as well as extended limits are also being mentioned.
