Midlands Tourism Hit By Fall In UK Visitors

The industry is feeling the effects of Brexit.

Brexit has created an environment of instability for tourism in the midlands.

Cathaoirleach of Offaly County Council, Peter Ormond, has been responding figures from the Association of Visitor Experiences and Attractions, which reports a 10% decline in toursim this year.

The Fianna Fáil rep - who has previously worked with Mid-Ireland Tourism - is blaming Brexit uncertainty for a fall in numbers coming from the UK in the last 12 months.

Councillor Ormond says the UK market is the most important to the Irish tourism industry:
