Midlands Communities Take Home Gold Tidy Town Awards

Minister for Rural Development Michael Ring made the presentation in Dublin this afternoon.

Abbeyleix Tidy Towns are the winners of the Inclusivity Award in the 2019 SuperValu TidyTowns competition.

Glaslough in County Monaghan has been named as Ireland’s tidiest town.

Blackrock in Louth was given the claim of tidiest small town, the Large Town award went to Westport in County Mayo, while Ennis in County Clare won Tidiest Large Urban Centre.

Portlaoise Educate Together is the Midlands and East regional School Award winner. 

Geashill took the overall gong in Offaly - scoring 344 points in the process, just two shy of the main competition winners and they also took home the gold medal in the Village Pollinator category. 

Ferbane Tidy Towns shared the Tree project Award with  Birdhill.

While Westmeath's county award was won by Ballinahown and Moates's Jimmy Redmond was one of 10 highly commended community heroes of 2019.
