Cabinet have officially approved Friday October 24th as Presidential Election Day.
Voters across the Midlands will be heading to the polls in just 50 days time to pick the 10th President of Ireland.
A memo has been signed off at Cabinet today by Local Government Minister James Browne, which will set the date for Friday October 24th.
Independent TD Catherine Connolly and Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys are confirmed for the ballot, with other public-life candidates like Bob Geldof and former Met Eireann forecaster Joanna Donnelly looking to enter the race.
