Minister Confirms Meat at Athlone HQ Sourced from Europe

There has been numerous calls for the resignation of Larry Murrin in recent weeks.

The Education Minister is confirming all meat served at her department's midlands headquarters is from Europe.

Hildegarde Naughton says the Athlone canteen uses Slice of Life Catering which sources its chicken from Germany through Casey Foods.

Its bacon, rashers, and pudding comes from Northern Ireland via Lawlors Foods in Athlone.

While its beef is sourced locally from Gillvans butchers, Moate.

Aontú leader and Meath West TD Peadar Toibin requested the information amid controversy revelations that Dawn Farm Foods has been importing beef from Brazil.
