The Irish Dental Association says more dentists from overseas need to be brought into the workforce.
It comes as four out of five dentists surveyed say they don't have the capacity to take on any new patients.
It was revealed last month that over 7,000 children in Laois were on a waiting list, and there are just three full time dentists dedicated to the school dental scheme in the county.
