The Longford-Westmeath Deputy's comments follow a joint-policing committee meeting, where the issue was raised.

More Gardaí are needed to tackle illegal debt collecting in the midlands

Longford-Westmeath TD Sorca Clarke is making the call following a joint-policing committee meeting, where Gardaí acknowledged the issue of collectors intimidating debtors.

She is encouraging victims to report the incidents to their local Garda station.

The Sinn Féin deputy says taking down even one of these loan sharks would have a huge knock-on effect:
