Over 10,000 people across Ireland are expected to benefit annually from a new age friendly homes scheme.
Healthy Age Friendly Homes will now be rolled out in all 31 counties following its success on nine pilot sites.
Laois and Offaly will now see the results of these homes, with Westmeath having participated in the pilot programme.
Referrals are now open with local coordinators in place.
Minister for Mental Health and Older People, Mary Butler, says "The pilot phase of the programme has demonstrated that it has and will have a positive impact on the quality of life for our older people and help them to live at home for longer."
