An offer has been made to fill the paediatric diabetic nurse position at Mullingar Regional Hospital.
The job has been vacant for 14 months and caused a temporary suspension of children's diabetes services last week.
Minister Of State in the Department of Health Mary Butler told the Dáil that the candidate is expected to start in the coming weeks.
