Locals were worried the surgery would be closed.
A new GP has been secured for a Westmeath village.
Residents in Coole had been raising concerns the local surgery would close earlier this year.
The HSE assumed interim management of the practice on May 1st, under a 'Doctor in Charge' number - it says it remains fully operational and there has been no disruption to the level of service that was available.
It also says a successful candidate has been secured, and has accepted the position.
It expects the incoming GP to assume the role within eight to ten weeks, however a start date has not yet been agreed.
