No Meaningful Discussion Between Education Department And School Secretaries

A Laois TD says there's been no serious or meaningful discussion between the Education Department and trade union Fórsa over secretaries salaries.

The trade union is calling for an end the ''two-tier'' pay system, which sees most earn just €12,500 per year.

Sinn Fein's Brian Stanley says non-department, school secretaries are getting 50% less in pay and no job security.

Deputy Stanley says the current pay issue is a long standing injustice:
